We are a unique and interesting group of people here at 317Grow, and we love it. As our clients, you may only get to meet a handful of our team members, and even then you may not get to know them very well. We're aiming to help you get to know some of our team members better this spring as we roll into the new season. We picked 20 interesting questions to ask our team, so look for these posts added to our usual mix every now and again. Today we'll get to know a little more about Amanda, co-owner and lead designer.

  1. If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
    Travel with my family.

  2. What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
    Downhill (moguls) skiing.

  3. What skill would you like to master?
Downhill (moguls) skiing. (I'm not good at just having hobbies... I like to work to be the best at everything... I blame my parents for this trait.)

  4. What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?
A solo trip to Italy. Last summer (2017) I had a 10-day trip scheduled and booked to a Bed & Breakfast Cooking School in Tuscany that I had to put on hold because of priorities at work. I’m anxious to get this back on my schedule.

  5. What songs have you completely memorized?
Probably the most inappropriate Snoop Dogg song that exists; let’s just say my mother would not be proud.

  6. What would be your first question after waking up from being cryogenically frozen for 100 years?
Where is the memoir of my child? I want to read it NOW….and then the second: What color is my hair?

  7. What are some small things that make your day better?
    My JONAH.
When the sink isn’t full of coffee cups.
When the Post Office decides they are actually going to deliver the mail either to our office or the PO Box.
    Coloring my hair.

  8. What’s your favorite genre of book or movie?
No particular genre, but my favorite book: The Four Agreements
My favorite movie: To Kill a Mockingbird.

  9. What are you interested in that most people haven’t heard of?

    Damn...these questions are tough!

I have a slight obsession with old Pyrex dishes/cookware (the bright colored ones) because they remind me of my grandma. And thanks to my mom being retired now, she is helping to improve the collection.

I just realized how boring I am…I should’ve said OHIO STATE FOOTBALL.

  10. How do you relax after a hard day of work?
A STRONG gin and tonic. Hopefully more than one.

  11. What’s the farthest you’ve ever been from home?
Mexico and/or the Caribbean. I am so fortunate to have parents that worked their tails off to take my sisters and me on vacations…there are so many memories I can’t keep track of them.

  12. What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
    Go on a trip ALONE.

  13. What’s the best thing that happened to you last week?
I had a client text me telling me how much they loved the project and that the team members are brilliant. Oh...and everyone showed up to work last week!

  14. What amazing thing did you do that no one was around to see?

There were some people around and I wouldn’t label it as amazing, but I witnessed a VERY negative woman belittle a service employee in front of many people. It was heartbreaking and it really pissed me off so I stood up, walked over to her and let her know that her behavior is unacceptable and if she treated people just a little better and had some compassion even occasionally, maybe she wouldn’t be such a miserable {insert word here}.

I’ve learned a lot (good and bad) during the last few years especially…but mostly I learned you never know what people are struggling with behind the scenes. We need to do better supporting each other.

  15. What fad or trend do you hope comes back?
True hard work and having a drive…and all of the grit that comes with it.
    Blood. Sweat. and Tears.

  16. What city would you most like to live in?
Somewhere warm, for longer periods of time. My start would be California, once Jonah is out of the house.

  17. What movie title best describes your life?
    Say Anything.

  18. What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
    My Jonah.

  19. Where do you usually go when you when you have time off?
What is time off? (...my kitchen...the gym...or a quiet place to read in solidarity.)

  20. What is the most impressive thing you know how to do?
    Being a working mother.
